YCN; Fedrigoni & the 'imaginative colour' tool.

As a starting point for this brief I researched into the Fedrigoni company and also the imaginative colours tool. This was so that I could have greater understanding of what the company was looking for in terms of designs and the styles they usually go for and also because I didn't know what the imaginative colours tool was so I really needed to understand this before I could go any further with the project. The Fedrigoni company is quite high end and works well with the creative industry so they look for quality to reflect the type of paper they are selling. The imaginative colours tool is a range of swatch booklets that have been created to showcase the paper in these series to clients.

Blue is a colour, the perception of which is evoked by light having a spectrum dominated by energy with a wavelength of roughly 440–490 nm. It is considered one of the additive primary colours. On the HSV Colour Wheel, the complement of blue is yellow; that is, a colour corresponding to an equal mixture of red and green light. On a colour wheel based on traditional colour theory (RYB) where blue was considered a primary colour, its complementary colour is considered to be orange (based on the Munsell colour wheel).
In Modern English, "blue" is one of the basic colour terms, and one of the seven spectral colours, intermediate between violet (purple) and cyan. It comprises a considerable number of identifiable subcategories that can be identified with descriptive terms like navy blue (a dark blue), cyan blue (or "blue-green", on the boundary to the green range), or sky blue (azure).
The word itself was loaned into Middle English from the Old French word bleu, blo "pale, pallid, discoloured; blue, blue-grey", itself from an Old Frankish *blao.



Blue is the overwhelming "favorite color." Blue is seen as trustworthy, dependable, and committed.

The color of ocean and sky, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. As the collective color of the spirit, it invokes rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming. However, not all blues are serene and sedate.

Electric or brilliant blues become dynamic and dramatic -- an engaging color that expresses exhilaration. Some shades or the overuse of blue may come across as cold or uncaring.

Indigo, a deeper blue, symbolizes a mystical borderland of wisdom, self-mastery, and spiritual realization. While blue is the color of communication with others, indigo turns the blue inward to increase personal thought, profound insights, and instant understandings.

Blue is the least "gender specific" color, having equal appeal to both men and women.

BLUE: THE COLOR OF THE THROAT CHAKRA

This chakra is located in the throat.  It is linked to the throat, neck, hands, and arms.

The Throat Chakra is connected with speech and hearing, and encourages spiritual communication.  Opening the Throat Chakra is said to improve clairaudience.

Gemstones that will aid the Throat Chakra include turquoise and aquamarine.

  • In Chinese culture, colors corresponded with the five primary elements, the directions, and the four seasons. Blue was associated with wood, east, and spring.

Top 10 things; E4//Film Four.

E4 is a channel on British digital television, launched as a pay-TV companion to Channel 4 on 18 January 2001. The "E" stands for entertainment, and the channel is mainly aimed at the lucrative 15–35 age group. Film4 is a free digital television channel available in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, owned and operated by Channel 4, that screens films.


In one of my crits it was suggested that I look at film four seeing as my sequences were going to be about films. I decided to further research both this channel and E4 which was the original channel I was going to go with and upon doing this I came to the conclusion the E4 is still better suited for the type of programme that people would be viewing. Film four is meant just for films so it didn't really seem appropriate to have a 'top ten programme' on this channel. Where as, E4 already has 'top' programmes, one of the main examples being rude tube which shows 50 of the best youtube videos from a certain themed area. E4 also better suits my target audience in terms of age range with it being 16 - 30 year olds and due to the style of some of the current idents I will have the ability to create some quirky colourful pieces.
